Cardiff fork from Reynolds flat.

Elevations, slope angles and aspects

7400-10500', angles over 35°, north, east and west facing aspects.

Snow conditions

4" or so at the summer campground in the shade.

There was scattered hoar frost near water sources at lower and mid elevations

Upper elevations had a variable(aspect dependent)16".

Recent storm snow was a settled 6-8". Ski penetrations-about the same.

Weather

Sunny skies, light wind, with temperatures cool in the shade, mild in the sun

Evaluation

west-facing

Skinned from the trail head to base of the chutes in Cardiac. The upper bowl was scratchy, rocks were hit.

bony

Second pitch skiable with caution, but shallow.

Skinned back to the trailhead.

Good stability, scattered shallow wind drifts.

Faceted snow is, at present, not an issue in the area.

Future stability will be dependent on snow amount and bonding of new snow to old surface.
